Man Up for Children in Africa

God’s call to protect and defend the least of these, this is one definition of Man Up.  Who are the least of these?  They are Orphans, widows, the oppressed, the outcast in society, lepers, and the lowest of low.  Our world is home to about 160 Million orphans and around 900 million that lack access to clean drinking water.  My heart breaks for these desperate people, so that is where I feel called to Man Up and Go.

We are called to world missions as Christ followers.  World missions can be defined as going into places all over the globe that are broken and desperate and spreading the love of Christ.

When I decided to Man Up 2 years ago and go on a mission international I was gloriously ruined for the gospel.  After learning about orphans and children in Africa I was tore up inside.  I wanted to take action in response to the emotion that the Holy Spirit stirred up inside me.  Most orphans in Africa have lost their parents due to poverty, disease, and war or a combo of all three.  You will never look at a child the same after you look into the eyes of a child who has no parents.  It is heart wrenching.  They cling to you and you can feel their desperation to be loved and cared for.  Human touch is powerful and speaking a word of love or encouragement is even more so.  This is what I learned while on mission in Africa, how to truly love.

The physical act of going and being present loving on orphans and widows, this is our heartbeat.  Your action or word spoken could change the life of a little one and in turn could change a community and even a nation.  God uses small things for his big purposes, man up and go is one of them.  When people who have no hope start to see Christ and realize who he is and how much he loves them, they light up.

We are responsible for taking Christ to the darkest and most forgotten places on earth, this includes trash dumps and slum communities.  It is a world mandate by God told in scripture to go!!  People who have never heard the name of Jesus are waiting for someone to tell them who he is.  Will you carry that message of hope?

People always talk about money and time being an issue for going on mission but God always makes the way, always!  Don’t let doubt and fear hold you back like it did me for so long, just get there.  This is why we go and Man Up.  We have to.  It will not come to us and it will not be easy.  But we are on the clock to care for children in Africa and learn more about how to care for orphans around the world.  “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.  And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.”  1 John 3:16 NIV

Will you Man Up and Go with us this summer?
