Recently Man Up and Go partnered with UPS to help out families in the Tampa, FL, area who are either foster or adoptive parents. One of the biggest things we can do to help these families is provide them with what’s called “wrap-around” services. It’s just like it sounds. There are those who are not called to adopt/foster necessarily, but still see the James 1:27 command in Scripture to still “visit” orphans in their distress.
One way they can do that is by visiting the families who are taking care of foster children or adoptive children and “wrapping” around them to provide support and services. Sometimes it’s a hug or a meal, but other times it’s laundry or respite care or projects around the house.
UPS provided Man Up and Go with a grant to help service some families in the Tampa Bay area recently. Among the accomplishments:
Shrub and bush trimming
Tree trimming and landscaping
Check out the pics below and know that Man Up and Go is committed to serving our foster families and to bring awareness to the need to foster and adopt children here in the U.S. Check out our EVENTS page to see how you might get involved locally in what Man Up and Go is doing.
We want to thank everyone who came out to our 2019 Champions Gala in Springfield, MO. This was the first ever sit-down fundraising event we’ve done in Missouri, and we believe it was a great hit! We RSVP’d for 60, but had over 80 show up, which was a good problem to have as we rearranged tables before the event to make sure everyone could fit.
We set up several immersion experience tables that allowed Champions to see the children up for child sponsorship, view and practice making the beautiful hand-made paper-bead jewelry from the women in the vocational training programs we support, as well as get a close look at the men currently enrolled in our Authentic Masculinity Programs. Below are a couple of those tables.
We also had a great program put together that enabled us to really share the heart of what Man Up and Go is doing. One of our child sponsors was able to share her experience sponsoring Anita in Uganda, and her daughter was able to read some of the letters they’ve received over the years from Anita. We also had a fun time making necklaces out of paper-beads – the competition was fierce and congratulations to Table 2 for pulling out the nail-biting victory!
We also were able to share about the impact the Authentic Masculinity Program had on one of our Champions who visited with us to Uganda. Click on the video below to see his passionate account of what he saw first-hand when he visited in the Fall of 2018.
Finally, we were able to share about 2019 Climbing Kili for the Kids. You can check out a short highlight reel of the trip below. And if you’re interested in a 2020 climb, then submit your application HERE.
All in all, we were able to raise over $7000 + a $7000 match, so over $14,000! Thank you so much for your support for us in the fight for the fatherless!
