Missouri

The Missouri Cohort operates in Southwest Missouri. Did you know as of the end of February 2020, the SW Region had 3,321 kids in foster care in 1,328 Foster/Relative Homes? Once a child enters care, the average time he or she will spend is about 19.34 months – that’s nearly two years without a permanent home situation!

In Greene County, approximately 250 foster families and relative caregivers help fill the gap of a home for over 600 kids. These are the families and the children Man Up serves with its Adopt a Family program.

Just like in Tampa, the SW Missouri Cohort launched its Man Up 100 initiative in hopes of recruiting 100 men in Greene County and beyond who will fight for the fatherless and demonstrate what Authentic Masculinity looks like.

Practically this takes place in our Adopt a Family program, in which foster families and relative/non-relative caregivers are served each month by our volunteers. This might look like some or all of the following:

  • Providing respite care or meals;
  • Completing special projects around the home;
  • Providing opportunities for foster families to go on special outings;
  • Buying diapers, formula, and other essentials;
  • Providing Christmas/birthday presents and/or vouchers;
  • Attending educational trainings to increase empathy and understanding.

The 100 men also agree to:

Gather

  • Every quarter we gather as men to sharpen one another as servant leaders.

Give

  • Every quarter each man gives of his financial resources to fund these projects.

Go

  • Every month each man commits to serve a family.
