HELPING FAMILIES THROUGH HELENE & MILTON
In the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, many of the communities we serve face immense challenges. Families across the region are grappling with loss, uncertainty, and for some, the daunting task of rebuilding. I’m sure you’ve seen Tropicana Field’s dome being ripped off or pictures of deadly storm surges and 100 MPH winds.
While Man Up is not a disaster relief organization, with our headquarters in Tampa Bay, we find ourselves on the frontlines of this crisis. The fathers, foster families, and foster youth we serve are hit hardest by these storms.
For our fathers.
The loss of work means more than just a financial setback. Without the ability to earn a living, they risk the kind of stress that can lead to behaviors that contribute to their children being taken away in the first place.
For our foster families.
These families are providing care for children who have already endured significant upheaval and now face even greater trauma as they navigate the uncertainty left by these hurricanes.
For our youth and young men.
Coping in traumatic times is often their best quality, a trait learned from bouncing from house to house as a child. While helpful in a real hurricane, they can detach in actual relationships, waiting for the next “hurricane” that history tells them is just around the corner.
Man Up is uniquely positioned to offer immediate relief to our constituents, ensuring they have the essentials — food, shelter, and medical care. Beyond that, we are committed to walking with them over the long haul.
Your donation will provide the emergency assistance they need and the lasting support to help these families recover and thrive. Whether assisting fathers to regain their financial footing or supporting foster families as they care for traumatized children - your gift can make a lasting impact.
Please consider contributing today by visiting our website. Every donation, no matter the size, counts. Simply designate “Helene/Milton Hurricane Relief” in the “Purpose” field.
On Wednesday, the day of the storm, here are the words from Psalm 93 that I read, which happened to be so very appropriate:
The waves roar, O Lord,
the waves roar,
the waves roar and crash.
Above the sound of the surging water,
and the mighty waves of the sea,
the Lord sits enthroned in majesty.
The Lord still sits on His throne. We still look to Him for our every need. And He still uses His people to meet the needs of His other kids. Thank you for standing with us during this very traumatic time.
