PATROS AS A PATH TO HEALING
The Cycle of Generational Fatherlessness
Gerry has been involved with Man Up for a while now and recently went through the Patros "Man As" series and gained a deeper understanding of the devastating impact of generational fatherlessness. He recognized how the issue did not just affect this generation but also impacted thousands of other men who didn’t have a present father growing up.
While generational fatherless has always existed, one moment that caused a surge in fatherless homes was the increase in divorce rates in the 1960s and 70s. One of Ronald Reagan’s “greatest regrets" was signing the Family Law Act of 1969, which allowed couples to separate without proving wrongdoing.
Single motherhood surged in the 80s which caused hundreds of thousands of “latchkey kids” to fend for themselves after school, many of them fatherless. Thousands of 50-something men are currently still dealing with the wound of growing up without a present father in the home.
Patros a Path to Healing
Gerry shared that the Patros' "Man As" series offers a unique and effective approach to addressing the root cause of fatherlessness, making healing to men’s hearts possible. He believes Patros provides a practical and biblical framework for men to walk out authentic masculinity.
Going through the series helped him gain a clearer picture of what it means to be a true man. He also witnessed how men from diverse backgrounds came together to be healed, equipped, and discipled for their important roles as men, fathers, and image-bearers.
Man Up envisions a future where 10.2 million Christian men, like Gerry, rise across the nation to break the cycle of fatherlessness.
Imagine the transformative impact this could have on society!
To achieve this vision, Man Up has launched an end-of-year campaign to raise $45,000 to bring Patros to 100 new churches by the summer of 2025. And you can help make this vision a reality.
Your best year-end gift can help put this powerful discipleship tool into the hands of hundreds of men who are eager to make a difference but don't know where to start.
